Lucan: The Philosophical Wolf

Image
A Newspaper Review of  Lucan's P remiere Episode In the late 70s and early 80s , Television was ruled by a Trilogith – the "Big Three" networks – ABC, CBS, NBC. These networks  received many complaints from worried parents, Television watchdogs, research groups, and some religious organizations about the amount of violent content featured on their prime-time shows. By the time Lucan premiered, changes were just being implemented. The critic here felt that ABC overcompensated so much that instead of merely toning down the action on Lucan, they "turned it off." Even when Lucan had displayed aggression, he still needed to keep his cool becau...

Lucan's Pilot and Series Instrumental Themes

Image
"Lucan's Theme" was arranged by composer Fred Karlin and used in the Pilot Movie. The music was sentimental and melancholy, representing how Lucan was all alone in the world. He'd lost the closest man to a father in death and wanted to find his real parents and the answers to why he was abandoned. When the fugitive concepts were added, the next ten episodes featured more pulse-pounding action-oriented "chase" music by composer JJ Johnson. 1st Main Title 2nd Main Title

The Lucan Press-Kit: Kevin Brophy Bio (1977)

KEVIN BROPHY – STARTING AT THE TOP BY EARL WINGARD After graduating from California Institute of Arts, Kevin Brophy quickly got his first professional acting job – starring in the title role of MGM Television's new hour-long adventure series, LUCAN, premiering on ABC network December 26. What's it like to start at the top? "Wonderful, absolutely wonderful," enthuses Kevin, just two years out of college. "I thought maybe I should just get out and run a dairy farm in Wisconsin. And then along came LUCAN and suddenly my life did a 180-degree turn. Instead of everything being down, everything was up." In his role as LUCAN, Kevin portrays a young man in search of his roots. He was left abandoned as an infant, for reasons unknown to LUCAN, and was raised by wolves in the northern wilds. He has acquired an animal's mistrust of humans but knows he must live among them and earn their respect and assistance if he is ever to find his parents or ot...
